IBM has announced two open source projects aimed at solving the growing problem of “space junk.”
Mike Wheatley at SiliconAngle reports that IBM is open-sourcing its Space Situational Awareness project, which aims to improve orbit prediction using machine learning models, as well as the KubeSat project, a cognitive autonomous framework that can be used to create and control satellite swarms and support the software they need to perform specific tasks.
