Fedora Switching from ext4 to Btrfs

The Fedora Project is changing the default file system for desktop variants for the first time since Fedora 11. As of Fedora 33, Btrfs will replace ext4 as the default filesystem.

According to an article in Fedora Magazine, Btrfs brings modern features such as, data integrity, optimizations for SSDs, compression, cheap writable snapshots, multiple device support, and more. The change is expected to be transparent for most users.
