Microsoft has announced the general availability of Immersive Reader, which is an Azure Cognitive Service within the Azure AI platform aimed at improving accessibility and helping people read and comprehend text.
According to the announcement, developers can add Immersive Reader to their products and enable users to read text aloud, translate text into more than 70 languages, focus attention through highlighting, and more.
The latest version includes the following improvements:
- Immersive Reader SDK 1.1: Includes support to have a page read aloud, to pre-translate content, and more.
- New neural text-to-speech (TTS) languages.
- New translator languages.
Additionally, the announcement stated that Code.org, a nonprofit dedicated to expanding access to computer science in schools, is integrating Immersive Reader into their platform.
