Microsoft recently announced a new general purpose, low-code programming language, called Power Fx.
According to the announcement, the open source language is based on spreadsheet-like formulas, such as Microsoft Excel, and is “a strongly typed, declarative, and functional language, with imperative logic and state management available as needed.”
Power Fx is “built on the exact syntax that hundreds of millions of people are already using to solve everyday problems of logic and computation,” Ryan Cunningham states. “By offering citizen developers a familiar and approachable way to express logic, we’re dramatically expanding who can build sophisticated solutions,” he says.
Microsoft Power Fx is currently integrated into Microsoft Power Apps, but developers are working to extract it for use in other products. See examples of functions and formulas and visit the GitHub page for additional information.
