Version 1.0 of Kubernetes Gateway API has been released, reports Joab Jackson, “offering a standardized way to manage network traffic going in and out of Kubernetes clusters.”
The open source API is a collection of resources that “aim to evolve Kubernetes service networking through expressive, extensible, and role-oriented interfaces that are implemented by many vendors and have broad industry support,” according to the Gateway API website.
With this release, the APIs for Gateway (for configuration), GatewayClass (for cluster-level operations), and HTTPRoute (for routing of HTTP traffic) are all generally available, Jackson says.
