To better understand technology trends and priorities for 2022 and beyond, IEEE recently conducted a global survey of technology leaders. According to the results, AI and machine learning (21%), cloud computing (20%), and 5G (17%) were cited as the most important technologies for the coming year.
According to the announcement, technology leaders also said that, because of the global pandemic, they accelerated adoption of the following technologies in 2021.
- Cloud computing (60%)
- AI and machine learning (51%)
- 5G (46%)
- Augmented reality, virtual reality, and mixed reality (31%)
- Blockchain (28%)
In terms of anticipated challenges, 88 percent of respondents cited maintaining strong cybersecurity for a hybrid workforce, and 73 percent cited managing return-to-office health and safety protocols, software, apps, and data as points of concern.
