Starting today, GitHub will begin requiring multi-factor authentication for code contributors, reports Dennis Fisher. “The requirement is part of an effort to prevent account takeovers and by extension protect the integrity of the open source software supply chain.”
This change, which was first announced last May, will start with “small cohorts” on March 13, “but ultimately will include all of the more than 100 million developers who contribute to projects by the end of 2023,” Fisher says.
